The King Residence
I have known and worked for Mrs. King for over twenty five years. We began our relationship with the completion of her large beachfront home that was began years earlier as an owner~builder project. A few years later, we added a garage~guest house. After that, we added a sauna room, decks and other improvements over the years.
Eventually, The family grew smaller and the home was more than was needed. It was sold and we began construction on a more manageable dwelling. The exterior is low maintenance ~ Hardi-Plank siding Milgard anodized windows, redwood decks, and a forty-year composition roof.
The interior is intentionally understated. We installed laminated wood grained flooring throughout the house. We made black walnut stair nosing to add contrast to the treads. The upstairs bedroom is trimmed in nutmeg, a rare local tree very similar to redwood, except the wood is a yellow color. The cabinets and vanities were designed by the owner and built by a local craftsman. Because of the very tall ceilings open to the upstairs, this home has a much larger feeling than its actual size.
It was a fun to build home for a very special person
