The Walsh Residence

The owner of this beautiful parcel wanted a small retirement home built on the family property.
The 1100 square foot house was built into the hillside, thus eliminating the need for numerous stairs and rises up the incline that may be a concern in the future.
There is an old barn and other out buildings on the family property in the valley below the house. The client wanted this home to blend in with those surroundings. The use of redwood board and batt siding milled from trees on the property, and a corrugated tin roof was very effective in accomplishing this goal.
The interior is decorated with bold colors on rough-plastered walls, designed to compliment the owner's art collection. The floors are stained concrete with imbedded hydronic heat.
This is a very low maintenance home that will provide a comfortable weekend retreat until retirement.
