Bowie
of Scotland has been hand-crafting fine furniture
since 1966. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland,
company founder James Bowie served a four-year
apprenticeship in fine furniture making, as well as
three years in woodworking college.
He
brought his talents to America in 1992, and has
since been commissioned to create truly outstanding
pieces of furniture, establishing a unique niche
with a discerning clientele who appreciate his
one-of-a-kind custom pieces.
Located
in beautiful Mendocino County, Northern California,
Bowie of Scotland creates breathtaking, artistic
furniture from materials of the highest quality.
James will work harmoniously with you or your
designer; his 34 years experience and attention to
detail ensures the museum quality of your final
piece.
Drawing
on his knowledge of antique furniture, he can
duplicate any piece you desire, from finely crafted
Chippendale dining sets and Queen Anne writing
bureaus in English walnut, to French Provincial and
Medieval dining sets and four-poster beds. Each
piece bears the hallmark of a finest quality
antique, using authentic, traditional techniques
and made under conditions similar to the original,
which helps to "antique" the piece.
All
pieces are crafted from solid woods, and the
hardware is hand-cast in England and France. Video
tapes documenting the construction of your custom
furniture is also available, so you can watch your
investment take shape. James designs every piece,
and is assisted in production by a small team of
European artisans.
If
you want furniture with lasting quality, value and
artistic craftsmanship, you want Bowie of
Scotland.
