Continuing
a tradition of quality woodworking, K.M. Davis
Woodcarving endeavors to build fine custom
furniture and architectural pieces. Crafted of
hand-selected solid woods, designs can range
from traditional to contemporary.
My
grandfather, Charles Marshall Sayers, was born
in Kirkcudbright, Scotland in 1892. At age 7 he
began his lifetime love of woodcarving, teaching
himself with a set of tools given him by his
father James Charles Sayers; himself a sailboat
builder and cabinetmaker. Charles Sayers' book
"The Book of Woodcarving" originally published
in 1942 is still in publication. It is my
ambition to continue this tradition and do honor
to the memories of these craftsman, building and
carving pieces that will be in your family for
generations to come.
In an age of
machine-made boring exactitude, hand-carved and
crafted woodwork can add what amounts to a
personal statement to your environment. Each
piece is unique and shows that it was built by a
human being and not by a factory. There is
character and depth to pieces crafted with care
that cannot exist in mass-produced
items.
So whether
you are looking for a piece for interior use or
for your garden; whether it is a piece of
furniture or an architectural element for your
home or office; I invite you to contact me so we
can discuss your project. I welcome the
opportunity to work with you to build that
special piece.
